This page is dedicated to the beginnings of texturing and colouring the models I made in Blender, which will be added into the Unity project. This is something I have had previous experience with, but it has taken some readjusting to an updated software. We expected this project to be a learning experience, and this is one of the aspects I wanted to refine my skills in.

A tedious process, but nonetheless successful, UV unwrapping involves unboxing the 3D model into a 2D framework of its components and individually designing each section that corresponds to its final form.
As I used ‘Smart UV Unwrap’, the segments were divided into their parts randomly across the square layout, which required me to pass back and forth between Blender and Procreate to see the updates I was making. I did not use Blender’s texturing software as I had a specific brush I wanted to use to correctly convey the oil-paint style which I believe worked well.
As in the video above, the textures are clear and the colours are bright so that the player can differentiate between the dials and switches. To make my life easier, I removed the plants and speaker system that sat on top and I will texture them separately and replace them in the Unity project.

This is just a small example of the rinse-and-repeat process I will do to every model to make sure they line-up with our vision. As I can only conduct this process while I am in the studio, this part of the design may take the longest and I will work hard to get the best possible outcome before the deadline.
