Intro

Welcome to our first development post. Here we will outline the progress we have made so far, including prototypes we have collated already and our project goals that we aim to achieve over the next few weeks.

As two creative-focused students, we understand the journey we are about to begin will include a lot of trial-and-error, learning new skills, and acting on helpful feedback and rigorous play-testing. We plan on using Unity and Blender as our primary tools to bring our project to life, but also allowing ourselves to get a chance at doing what we enjoy; art, design and world-building.

In this post we have discussed initial ideas and our game plan going forward. We expect to see many changes going forward and we are excited to see how our FMP unfolds.

Figma is going to be our design foundation for our next steps. Using moodboards and word pools, we have created a proposition for how we will present our game to our target audience.

As we are both passionate about psychological horror, this idea gives us a chance to explore how our chosen themes and setting could fit into our values. Our challenge will be how we can best reflect that in a way that can be understood and enjoyed by our audience.

We landed on the name, ‘The Keepers Veil’, as it not only instigates mystery and gothic elements, but it holds up as a metaphor for our narrative. This will be for the players to understand after playing our game. The title correlates with our intentions as developers, and it will help with our marketing on social media.

As our game is based on nautical themes, we intend to uphold this consistently throughout our design process, marketing and presentation.

This will relay into our instagram and X posts, which we will embody the role of the on the shoreline to get ourselves and our players into the mindset of the game.
